The White-English Council of Great Britain
The horrific images of torture from Basra are in danger of giving the White-English community a bad image in the eyes of all minority groups in this country. Although the alleged abuse is directed at Muslims we know that Jews have always been and still are concerned for the "stranger who lives in their home" and will be justifiably outraged by the images. Therefore, as community spokespeople, we would like to use the forum of your excellent community website to apologise unreservedly on behalf of our community. The White-English have a peace-loving culture. Despite the wars in Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan and Iraq, the selling of weapons to the Indonesian government and the tacit collusion with the failed coup in Equatorial Guinea, the word ‘crusade’ to the vast majority of White-English people means the struggle for truth and justice, equality and the creation of a better world. It was only a small minority who used it as an excuse for the atrocities committed in 1096 and for the subsequent nine centuries.
We can assure all minority groups that the White-English are a peace loving people, while the vicious racism expressed by rioters, football fans, the “bad apples” of the police force, and the editors and journalists of the mainstream press are the views of a fundamentalist minority. We are a progressive culture and there are now fewer who consider homophobia acceptable in public. Perhaps soon it will be possible for a public figure outside of the entertainment industry to be openly gay.
Although recent newspaper articles on “binge drinking” may have seemed like a backlash against female emancipation, they were, I am reliably assured, purely a concern for women’s health. If prosecutions for rape are rare and the convictions are rarer, at least ‘no’ now means ‘no’ in the law. Most of the time.
The obsession with asbos, ‘neighbours from hell’, identity cards, restrictions on freedom to protest’ are at odds with the White-English tradition of caring for each other and a flourishing literary tradition in favour of liberty, free-speech and understanding. The public burnings, drownings, floggings, hangings, press-gangs, torture, slave-trading, brutal imperialism, collusion with brutal dictators, detentions without trial, manifestly unjust trade policies, sale of wristbands, extraordinary rendition, refusal of entry to persecuted refugees and the naked hypocrisy of sending secret service operatives to Guantanamo Bay whilst ‘demanding back our British nationals’, all go against the fine history of equity and tolerance in this green and pleasant land. The fact that now no immigrant or non-white citizen is made to grovel or justify their cultural heritage or continued presence on these shores is, we feel, indicative of White-England’s noble culture, of which we can feel justly proud.
