Reb Geoffry said in the name of Reb Beruriah, ‘Birthwrong opens the Gates to the World to Come. Those who take part in Diasporist revelry hasten the coming of the Moshiach*. Even a Bissel Birthwrong brings us closer to a redeemed world**.’ – Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Geoffry 42b
A Bissel Birthwrong is an intimate-scale Birthwrong trip to the best bits of the Diaspora. This autumn, we bring you A Bissel Birthwrong Amsterdam. Learn about Communist Party Resistance during WWII, celebrate the city’s Sephardi/ Spanish & Portuguese Jewish history, go on a radical walking tour, party with other lefties and plot revolution. (Other intended activities: Black Archives, LGBTQ+ shul, meet Another Jewish Voice, workshop on antisemitism on the left.)
21-24 September 2018. Amsterdam.
Apply by 1 JULY, 5PM GMT: https://goo.gl/forms/Jq5FrEnMf2OkEJbe2
Please note that we would like this trip to be a collective effort; we will therefore be asking participants to help organise one aspect of the event.
Access requirements will be taken into account for scheduling and accommodation, and we aim for this trip to be open to all regardless of access needs. Once applicants are accepted, we will reach out to all about access requirements.
This is a trip geared toward adults. We are unable to accept unaccompanied people under 18. We are open to adults who want to bring children for whom they can take responsibility, though there will not be childcare or a formal children’s programme.
We estimate that this trip will cost €70-€80/£60-£70 per person excluding travel to Amsterdam (including free accommodation with local activist hosts and some meals). As with BirthWrong Marseille, we will have tiered prices so that people can pay what they’re able to. We will update accepted participants with the exact cost and what is/isn’t included shortly.
